Koruko Massage
This is a body massage that combines:
All of these techniques are used in Koruko to stimulate, vitalize and balance all 12 major meridians or energy channels in the body. Koruko is given lying face up on a table being clothed to whatever degree you are comfortable. A similar back massage lying face down is also available. Performance Enhancing Activating Koruko (PEAK) This is the standard Koruko massage focusing on vitalizing the whole body and any physical problem or body area important to an upcoming performance. It can be especially helpful for those about to engage in athletic competition, musical or dance performance or any physically demanding activity as well as any current or upcoming stressful situations. For a pre-performance boost, it is recommended that this massage be done the day before the event. Balancing Energy Activating Massage (BEAM) This is a general massage lasting an hour and a half that includes a front and back Koruko massage. It is recommended for those having particular physical issues, chronic conditions, back problems, etc. It may require concentrating on one or more of the treatment modalities used in the Koruko description to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment, which might limit getting to both sides of the body. The therapeutic choices will be agreed upon during the time of your session. A BEAM massage is $120 for the session. Please specify this when making an appointment. |
Naturopathy and Acupuncture
Naturopathic Medicine
As a naturopathic physician I specialize in using natural medicines to help balance the body's energy and allow it heal. I use a holistic approach to health by including lifestyle habits as an important consideration in evaluating health problems. I firmly believe that a balance in body, mind and spirit are essential to our health and well-being. Natural therapies are the mainstay of naturopathic medicine. These include herbs, vitamins, supplements, homeopathy, diet, nutrition, physical and resonance-based medicine. What to Expect I will take a thorough history to identify imbalances that will help me in choosing the correct treatment. I then choose some appropriate natural therapy and will make recommendations to optimize your physical, mental/emotional and spiritual health. Although I do not do obstetrics, gynecology, intravenous therapies or prescribe antibiotics unless absolutely necessary; I am a general practitioner who also does women’s health and some pediatrics. Please call me to discuss your particular situation so I can determine whether seeing me would be the most appropriate course. Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Acupuncture refers to the insertion of small disposable, sterilized needles through the skin into underlying tissues at specific points on the surface of the body. Microcurrent therapy, a low-level electrical current similar to the body’s natural current, can be used either in conjunction with or to replace the use of acupuncture needles. It is used to balance the body’s energy especially in areas of pain, for wound healing, and in various external or internal symptoms. Herbal formulas are often used in conjunction with acupuncture and I may use herbal patches on an area of pain or injury. Although I might use some Chinese herbal formulas I prefer using Western herbal tinctures because I am more confident of their potency and how they are sourced. Other OM physical therapies include:
